Today is Earth Day It has been practiced on April 22nd each year since 1970. It is a time when we can show our appreciation for the earth and to help clean it up from things such as garbage and pollution. We can do things to help our earth by cleaning up our yards or helping in your community by joining with your neighbours and cleaning up your neighbourhood. Planting trees and plants also helps our earth, they give oxygen and make our world a healthier place to live. What will you being doing to help our earth today?

The theme for the activity packages that will going out tomorrow to the participants who are still at home is Aliens. Is there anybody out there? The package is filled with colouring sheets, math, word scrambles, crosswords, secret message games and more.

A little neat fact about today that seems quite interesting is that the Simpson’s first aired on television 33 years ago today. Here is a clip of their first episode (it is only about 1 minute long). Their first episodes were short clips that were part of another show called The Tracey Ullman Show.

So take a few minutes today to appreciate the benefits and beauty of gardening and maybe start one yourselves.

Wow, did we ever get a lot of rain over the weekend. All that rain and the mild temperatures help nature to grow. We should start to see new plants growing and leaves starting on the trees. When you are out for a walk just take a moment and look around you, take notice of all the fresh new things that come in the spring. Not just the plants but close your eyes and listen you might even hear the birds chirping.

Today is Awkward Moments Day - I can think of lots of things I have done that turned out to be funny, such as taking a drink from a pop bottle and it spilling down my chin, like I had a hole in my chin, or stumbling over nothing and doing a dance to regain balance. At first I was embarrassed about these incidents but now I laugh. What memories do you have of awkward moments you had that are now funny. Share them with a friend and you can laugh together. Many of other people’s awkward moments where put online to share the laughter with others. If you want to laugh maybe check out some of those funny moments on YouTube.
